During the Enlightenment a new idea of the person was conceived which in turn came to have far-reaching effects on the development of liberal democratic theory and political economy. By looking at the psychological theories that were developed to support our modern political and economic institutions, Mike Arfken demonstrates that psychology has not only played a vital role in the development of liberalism but also in the more recent expansion of neoliberal capitalism. In this way, modern psychology is revealed as the expression of an underlying political economy.
The book's primary focus is on the historical, philosophical, and theoretical dimensions of psychology and neoliberalism, but it also considers a number of prominent concrete examples. The author gives particular attention to how the emergence of the cognitive revolution and the recent interest in social class and globalization have made psychological theory and practice instrumental in the reproduction and expansion of neoliberalism.

Nomad Citizenship argues for transforming our institutions and practices of citizenship and markets in order to release society from dependence on the state and capital. It changes Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of nomadology into a utopian project with immediate practical implications, developing ideas of a nonlinear Marxism and of the slow-motion general strike.
Responding to the challenge of creating philosophical concepts with concrete applications, Eugene W. Holland looks outside the state to analyze contemporary political and economic development using the ideas of nomad citizenship and free-market communism. Holland’s nomadology seeks to displace capital-controlled free markets with truly free markets. Its goal is to rescue market exchange, not perpetuate capitalism—to enable noncapitalist markets to coordinate socialized production on a global scale and, with an eye to the common good, to liberate them from capitalist control.
In suggesting the slow-motion general strike, Holland aims to transform citizenship: to renew, enrich, and invigorate it by supplanting the monopoly of state citizenship with plural nomad citizenships. Insight: Essays on Psychoanalytic Knowing (Jorge L. Ahumada, 2011)
Insight means "How do we know about our psychic reality?"
James Rose mentioned about this book in "The Non-Linear Mind: Psychoanalysis of Complexity in Psychic Life" (2016, Chap 8).
Ahumada takes the view that the fundamental dynamic of insight is counter-induction. This means reversing the usual logic of induction, which is to identify the general from the particular. Counter-induction is an apparently paradoxical position of taking the way things have been observed as a guide to how they are not. ... Identification of these ideas shaping experience is the stuff of insight. These "ideas" might be thought to be the manifestations of the analysand's strange attractors. (ibid, kindle location 3104-3108/3723)
A la David Smail, we need another book on "Outsight", i.e. "How do we know about our external reality?"
