As Sagan (1974) pointed out, cannibalism (oral devouring) gave way to head-hunting (anal collecting), head-hunting to slavery (phallic domination), and slavery (though still not eradicated) to class oppression (wage slavery). It is far from clear if and how we will overcome the latter.
