Psychoanalysis in the Barrios: Race, Class, and the Unconscious demonstrates that psychoanalytic principles can be applied successfully in disenfranchised Latino populations, refuting the misguided idea that psychoanalysis is an expensive luxury only for the wealthy.
As opposed to most Latin American countries, where psychoanalysis is seen as a practice tied to the promotion of social justice, in the United States psychoanalysis has been viewed as reserved for the well-to-do, assuming that poor people lack the "sophistication" that psychoanalysis requires, thus heeding invisible but no less rigid class boundaries. Challenging such discrimination, the authors testify to the efficacy of psychoanalysis in the barrios, upending the unfounded widespread belief that poor people are so consumed with the pressures of everyday survival that they only benefit from symptom-focused interventions. Sharing vivid vignettes of psychoanalytic treatments, this collection sheds light on the psychological complexities of life in the barrio that is often marked by poverty, migration, marginalization, and barriers of language, class, and race.

Freud's Papers on Technique and Contemporary Clinical Practice (Lawrence Friedman, Routledge, 2018)
Freud’s Papers on Technique is usually treated as an assemblage of papers featuring a few dated rules of conduct that are either useful in some way, or merely customary, or bullying, arbitrary and presumptuous. Lawrence Friedman reveals Papers on Technique to be nothing of the sort. Freud’s book, he argues, is nothing less than a single, consecutive, real-time, log of Freud’s painful discovery of a unique mind-set that can be produced in patients by a certain stance of the analyst.
What people refer to as "the rules", such as anonymity, neutrality and abstinence, are the lessons Freud learned from painful experience when he tried to reproduce the new, free mind-set. Friedman argues that one can see Freud making this empirical discovery gradually over the sequence of papers. He argues that we cannot understand the famous images, such the analyst-as-surgeon, or mirror, without seeing how they figure in this series of experiments. Many of the arguments in the profession turn out to be unnecessary once this is grasped. Freud’s book is not a book of rules but a description of what happens if one does one thing or another; the choice is the therapist’s, as is the choice to use them together to elicit the analytic experience.
In the light of this understanding, Friedman discusses aspects of treatments that are guided by these principles, such as enactment, the frame, what lies beyond interpretation, the kind of tensions that are set up between analyst and patient, the question of special analytic love, the future of analytic technique, and a possible basis for defining Freudian psychoanalysis. Finally, he makes concrete suggestions for teaching the Papers on Technique.
Freud's Papers on Technique and Contemporary Clinical Practice will appeal to all psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic psychotherapists concerned about the empirical basis of their customary procedures and the future of their craft. (amazon)

宗教改造中共化 處處都有習大大 從河南省開始

在中国的宗教信仰，正面临一场浩劫。中共当局一边鼓励人们举报信仰人士，一边清除各地的宗教标志，换上习近平、毛泽东像及中国共产党的标语。
教堂礼物飘党味
据关注中国信仰自由的网媒《寒冬》报道，从河南省开始，中共当局展开了一场将宗教标志从家庭和教堂里扫除的行动。例如，将三自教堂作为礼物，发给基督徒具有基督教特色的新年对联，变成歌颂共产党的“爱党对联”。
报导称，河南省商丘市政府批准的某三自教堂发给基督徒的新年对联写的是“坚定信念跟党走，脱贫致富奔小康”，横批为“党恩赐福”。另有一张“福”字，下面标注着“县委统战部”字样。
该三自教堂的负责人称：“现在赞美主的门画、对联，政府都不让贴了，必须得贴宗教局统一下发的门画、对联。”当地还有基督徒透露，去年圣诞节后，当地一处三自聚会点的负责人通知信徒，称不再发主耶稣的画像，改发习近平像。
除了对联，印有《圣经》金句的挂历也成违禁品。去年10月，河南省夏邑县政府人员冲进当地一名三自教堂基督徒的家中，威胁他撕掉家中的基督教挂历，换上一本印有习近平像的挂历，否则将取消他的低保。报导指出，这种情况，在河南多地都有发生。
重庆市永川区也传出消息称，当地卖十字架、基督教挂历的商铺今年已不敢卖。主管教育部门的负责人说，卖这些挂历是和政府作对，会被抓捕。
闯入门的“红卫兵”
新年的门画、对联和挂历被换成“党恩赐福”下的宣传品，并强迫信徒接受。另一方面，信徒家中原有的宗教画像也遭殃，被强行入室检查的政府官员拆除，改贴毛泽东和习近平的画像。
去年10月，河南省商丘市某县一名80岁的老人，遭多名政府官员闯进其住家，勒令其撕掉家中的十字架画像，又拿出毛泽东和习近平像强迫他贴上。政府官员威胁说：“如果我们再回来检查时，发现你还没有贴毛主席像，就把你们的扶贫福利补贴取消。”
当地政府官员宣称：“凡是贴耶稣画像和十字架的，都得通通撕掉换成毛主席和习近平的画像。这是中央下的政策！”若有人不配合，政府官员就会亲自动手。
商丘市夏邑县某村村民们反映，当地村干部分成多个小组，每组3到4个人，挨家挨户强行入室检查，看到宗教标志就动手拆除。村民们气愤地表示，政府入户检查的行为与毛时代文革时期红卫兵强行检查的阵势一样。
据《寒冬》发表于1月16日的报导统计，自去年2月以来，夏邑县各乡镇大约有1400多户基督徒家庭的宗教物品被毁坏。仅10月份，商丘市睢阳区被撕毁宗教标识223户、梁园区各村约130户。洛阳市新安县更在15天内就拆除宗教标识279户，整个新安县的所有住家目前已看不到有宗教对联或门庭装饰了。
基督教“中共化”
宗教标识不能存，宗教建筑也不能有。去年，河南省新郑市、商丘市、永城市等地，有多处教堂被拆毁，很多家庭教会及政府批准的三自教会聚会场所被强行改为其他用途，如改成供水站、活动中心、老年娱乐中心。
而剩余的三自教堂则被迫升起国旗、贴标语，教堂墙上的耶稣画像、经文牌匾全被拆下，换成中共政府制定的各种规章制度。
一位基督徒透露：“最早从河南开始大面积地升国旗、拆十字架、查封教会行动，那时我们就担心当局只是以河南为试点，以后其他省份都会遭遇这样的严重迫害，现在这个趋势越来越明显了，其他省份也陆续有同样的事情发生，而且越来越严重，这也证实了我们的担忧。”
一名三自教堂的牧师则表示：“习近平推行的基督教‘中国化’说白了就是基督教‘中共化’，让中国基督教、天主教都姓共产党。”
中国的基督教、天主教，接受中国政府领导、不受境外教会干预的称为三自教会或三自爱国教会，而拒绝接受中国政府领导则被称为家庭教会或地下教会。后者长期受到中共政府的打压，三自教会则显得安全一点。
但随着中共当局宗教政策的打压缩紧，三自教会也难逃一劫，从去年发生在河南省多地的清除宗教标识行动即可见一斑。
讽刺的是，去年9月中国与梵蒂冈达成历史性协议，教宗承认由中共控制的主教，北京则正式承认教宗对中国天主教会的权威。这个表面看似进步，中共政府做出让步的协议，却没有换来任何和平。去年中旬以来，中国加强对教会的打压力道，要人们当告密者，举报信仰人士和教会聚会活动，还要清除耶稣画像等宗教标识。
去年10月，浙江省某中学教导主任更公开宣称，法轮功、天主教、基督教已被政府定为“邪教”，要信只能信共产党。
