In May 1930, Rank spoke before the First International Conference on Mental Hygiene, in Washington, D.C. The APsaA had its annual meeting in conjunction with the Conference. He lectured on "The Training of the Will and Emotional Development." Later that day, Rank was expelled from honorary membership in the APsaA.
