In East Asia the Madhyamika was frequently known as the ‘Three Treatise School’ (三論宗) (中論 十二門論 百論), after the three Indic texts which serve as the root texts for this tradition in East Asian Buddhism. These treatises were translated into Chinese by the great translator Kumarajcva (344–413 CE), who may be said to have established the Madhyamika tradition in China, （Paul Williams, 2e, 2016, p. 81)
